HOOT 13

Thank you for attending parent-teacher conferences this week. It has been a privilege to be teaching your child and being much supported by you all.

Way to go, Khloe! Reading To the Top to mom at parent-teacher conference.

Clover reading her paragraph about her favorite movie, Mamma Mia at her parent conference.

Yay for more reading! We are embarking on Dinosaurs at Dusk in the Magic Tree House series. Kudos to our super strong readers!

Reading / writing skills:
Sight words are very important for fluent reading. Many children in class are great at decoding and are ready for sight word mastery. Here are a couple resources for flash cards:

A few children are ready for more advanced readers such as the Little Bear series, Mouse and Mole series, or  Frog and Toad series. Please encourage their effort at home. New reading logs are coming home next week.

Homework:
Please return the last homework packet without the spelling portion. This will give your child a chance to have more practice before the spelling quiz next Thursday.
The new homework packet will be going home on Thursday as well. It will include a new reading log and a personal word wall page for home use with spelling/writing.

Finally, thank you for your support with the pain I have experienced over the loss of my father. You and your children are my second family. You all are a great help in keeping my spirits up.
