This week's events:
Monday 10:30 - Students of the Month. Congratulations to Isiaih Hall and Tiana Pete for being outstanding students in first grade!
Thursday, March 2, 8:30-12:00 - Annual TISA Read-a-thon
First graders are raising money for their end-of-year field trip to Ghost Ranch!
We are hoping that every student will raise $25 at our Read-a-Thon
so that we can achieve our goal. Please help your child find sponsors (family, friends,
businesses) to donate money for every book she or he reads at the Read-a-Thon!
Students in first grade will begin their Read-A-Thon day at 8:30 with healthy breakfast treats brought from home followed by reading until 12 noon. Parents, siblings, and other family members or friends are welcome to join students to read during this time.
It will be a pajama day! PJs, pillows, small blankets, stuffed animals, and healthy snacks/drinks
to share will be welcome! We would also be happy to borrow a Seuss movie for the day. Children can bring in a bunch of their favorite books from home to read.
Please label books that are extra special with your child’s name. Books will also be available
in the classroom.
Please fill this form out and bring it back by Wednesday, February 28.
Read-a-thon money is due Thursday, March 29. Please fill checks out to TISA.

Pizza day was canceled because of early dismissal last Thursday. Please mark your calendars for pizza money. It's due by the last Tuesday every month. In March, that is March 27. Money is not accepted after that day. Prepaying can save you the headache of keeping that in mind for each month. If you prepay for one slice of pizza for the rest of the year, it would be $6 for three months. Please submit your pizza order in a labeled pouch (name, amount of money enclosed, how many slices, choice of topping). Thank you!
We had fun with Owee's gecko last week. We also started working on studying money in our math unit. We will be studying all US coins. If you have a collection of the state coins, a Sacagawea coin, a half dollar, a two-dollar coin, etc. please send them in a safe pouch and ask your child to let me know that they have them. Otherwise no money is brought to school by the children please.
